Happy Thanksgiving to All
|
Every single turkey is now an enemy of the republic.
gerble gerble
so what have i to be thankful for this year?
well:
1) the opportunity to work on audio for a AAA title video game.
2) that game, neverwinter nights 2, has been launched and i am still working at the same company that brought me on
3) i am able to "do things" with my "free time"
4) i am saving a lot of money on rent this year
5) getting into and about the city is much easier this year
6) i'm still kickin'
7) i have developed my patience enough that i can swallow my pride when i need to, keep my mouth shut when i need to, and maintain a level head and stay on track
8) everyone in my family seems to have successful goings-on in their own life-tracks
yes i am thankful for many things this year.
hopefully next year i'll have a few things to be thankful for as well as i struggle and sacrifice through this career that i've chosen. and maybe i'll figure out where i left that spoon.... *dun dun dunnnnnn!* |

star wars
|
farmers impoverished in india are selling their kidneys
man that's extreme and i don't even know how i feel about it.
in other news, i've been watching the star wars marathon on cinemax (all 6 episodes back to back) and i've come up with some new theories.
theory 1 - most of the acting was horrendous. it was the music, sound design, and special effects that made it dramatic. big ups to industrial light and magic
theory 2 - anakin is a big softy. when in episode 3 he saves the emperor from mace windu; then he's put in the same situation in episode 6 when he saves luke from the emperor. so if you ever want anakin/darth vader to do anything for you, just lay on the ground in agony asking "please! please!" and he'll probably kill whoever you want
theory 3 - they should have made 4 prequels. but they weren't allowed to because episode 4 was already made =(
theory 4 - i know what the worst sound effect in the star wars universe is. do you?
(hint: episode 3, giant lizard that obi-one rides before meeting general grievous) |

stuff to be said

today was a day to be had
it started out with me breaking up a fight on the 7 train between two middle-aged middle-class women.
we got our neverwinter nights 2 deluxe edition video games delivered to us.
problems: its missing one of the items that is supposed to come with it, it doesn't load onto the PC (it says wrong disk), and i got bounced back when i tried to email tech support.
...and i'm not that suprised. well, i AM suprised, just not THAT suprised.
i organized and burned the "official" neverwinter nights 2 soundtrack to disk. the tracks sound great. i listed the tracks with the gamer in mind. what would make the most sense, with regard to taking you "through the adventure"
and yes, the word is out
the heavy melody halloween party was a success.
it seems most of the new york video game industry exists in the chelsea district.
check out these blogs from some of the people that were at the party.

destructoid is a daily blog all on the video game industry.
freeverse
freeverse used to make mac-only games but now they're branching out into cross-platform titles.
the coolest part is that heavy melody is the best audio house for video games in new york, and we're right NEXT to the developers! talk about a win-win
now, if they would only allow me to take a crack at musical scoring for these things... >=D |

| i watched the movie "saw" and i thought i wouldn't like it but for some reason i just was in the mood to watch a flick and it grabbed my attention and was compelling. i genuinely liked it. i guess i gotta see saw 2 and 3 now |
