impressive strike?
truthfuly, this immigration strike won't hurt much except maybe my lunch won't be delivered; i'll have to go downstairs and get it. on the plus side, whoever answers the phone at the deli might speak english!

down with all the Als
i don't like anyone named al anymore. al-zawahiri, al qaeda, al hayat,..... basically anything al i associate with being american-hating.
so al qaeda has yet again sent out a video that says how america has made no progress in iraq and we're all disasterous. well whoopity doo!
even IF we were doing poorly in iraq, we can't allow ourselves to be swayed by such things. we must remember that it is our dire enemy making these comments. and he's saying these things for a reason. a strategic reason. they're trying to play on our pride as our weakness. and they're doing a bang up job. think about it: how much pride is leading the executive branch in D.C.?
we need to decide for ourselves when the right time to pull out or push forward is.
personally i think we should pull out. let them have their party. let them "drive us out of iraq". its ok we don't lose much except maybe a little pride ....and then blitzkrieg their celebrating asses just when they think we're chicken. o ya o ya you insurgents win we can't get anything right we'll just go home like cowards =(

HA! >=O
*kaboom kapow shoot shoot shoot*

yes that's the plan. an old strategy but a good one. and why not? their strategy is old too. (puss saying "i bet you couldn't turn into a mouse")

pickler in a pickle
47 and 1/2 million votes
not bad i suppose
i hope paula doesn't bawla

so the judges apologized; i guess the speakers in the room are some bose cheapies

and andrea bocelli sang. i didn't like the song and really, he probably wouldn'ta won american idol.
hahahaha

and its just as we all knew, she's out and they play the "had a bad day" song

she's so candid and sweet and i'm sad to see her go. it was cute the way she went on when the credits faded the show away. i already miss her but someone's gotta get dropped and she was the worst last night =(

I'll miss her cuteness and her comments, but she's been painful to listen to these past several weeks..... I won't miss her performances.

Bocelli Idol
Celine Dione is full of crap!
"if god had a singing voice he'd sound like andrea bocelli"
bleuwgh!

katherine mcphee - she's so hot when she's singing. great singing. she's a whitney contenda! (though she would lose in a sing-off)
what happened to paula's mic? don't let the interns run the board!
the judges are popping crazy pills. not a single one of them liked her and she was nothing but likeable. she's not used to it and she had that deer-in-the-headlights awareness about her, which i thought was really cute coz you know she probably won't hear that kind of abuse ever again. ya, she's got "winner" written all over her voice.

elliott yamin - his tie looks goofy. the david foster guy giving advice did a good job with the advice giving. probably the best advice these contestants have gotten so far. he's a good singer, but he never pushed it over the top. he's no star and i still think he needs to git. the judges are definitely popping crazy pills coz they loved him so much. and wtf with paula brought to tears?? and his tie looks goofy.

ugh lindsay lohan commercials suck. they already did a trading places movie back in like '89 or something and it was superb. and it was in NY then too ("turn those machines back on!")

kelly pickler - the pottery thing was cutish, but her personality is becoming less important when you have mcphee shining like a beakon of vocal triumph. to put it simply: she wasn't on pitch too much and her performance was wooden. she should NOT have chosen this song. and he "what about mary" hairstyle doesn't help. this will be her last week here if paris doesn't have bronchitis =(

paris bennett - she stunk up the stage with her stomach heaves. she just bothers me. i guess the competition needs her as an alternative to other styles, but i just dont' like listening to her. but, alas, she didn't have bronchitis. pickler is leaving us next week. aww =(

taylor hicks - charisma, that's the word that i was looking for. taylor's got it. his suit looks so dumb but he pulls it off coz his charisma. he didn't do so good in this genre of songs. its supposed to be a powerhouse vocal song and he's more a scratchy rockabilly singer. but what the hey i like him anyway.

chris daughtry - i find myself each week with the growing feeling that when they say "chris daughtry is next" i'm all like "ugh, i gotta listen to him again..."
that tells me that i don't like him. its a chore. the fact that he's singing that song is just, painfully, like him to do. that drama queen. he's ending up more goatchop than yamin and that's no easy feat. he should lay down on stage when he performs. always. he might be more fun to watch/listen to. is paula drunk??

looking back on the recap, taylor wasn't great (but will reign again), paris sucked (and is next to go), and stickler is out (goodbye)

I look forward to your running commentaries. Kelly, again not so good. Taylor sounded wooden too. I think that they might be overcoached and their losing what was unique and interesting about them. The handler alter their 'look' from week to week, hence Kellys & Paris hair.

That producer, David Fisher, was the real winner last night. He was spot on point with his comments. Bocelli took a que from Paul and showered each contestant with praise. Speaking of Paula, I was laughing my butt off when she started crying :-)

    Goodbye Pickler, then Paris
    Winners: the GoatBoys

spring suprise (not steel bolts springing in your mouth)
because i work in the forgotten realms, the land of dragons and orcs. because i'm ensconced in fantasy, i'm prone to pine on such things. i've come across 2 fallacies; abhorations of imagination.
first, centaurs couldn't even exist in the fantasy realm
their horse bodies are structured with horse rib cages, otherwise they'd look funny. which means they'd have big horse lungs. which makes sense coz they'd need a lot of oxygen to supply that big bod. and the human torso is also built with a rib cage/lungs to supply oxygen for the human part.
makes sense too, huh? but not when you think about the little human nostrils are supposed to inhale enough to supply 4 lungs worth of air to. so a centaur wouldn't be such a fighter like they're made out to be. they'd more be like little heavy-breathing troglodytes, constantly gasping for air.

next up, zombies. why are the so sluggish? why are skeleton warriors always upright and walking around and zombies are always dragging their legs and arms and heads to the side? don't zombies, technically, have more muscle than skeletons?? wouldn't a skeleton not be able to move? ok ok, there' s magic involved. but any less magic than would animate a zombie though? if they're so different, why do they appear together so often? graveyards/tombs, dungeons... and at what point does a zombie decay so much as to become a skeleton? what happens then?

these are abominations of the fantasy world. zombies should walk with good posture or else skeletons shouldn't be able to move. end of story!

now, on to other trivial things: its spring and that means spring pics
here's a few to make you happy
aren't they great? central park is nice this time of year. and park avenue! those tulips are on every block in perfect squares. this dumb blog host thing won't let me put the pics like i want them. they always look out of place and my text is in crappy position. no wysiwyg here >=(

things are making sense
i like the burger king. his twinkling eyes and stupid stupid smile always keep me laughing.

rod stewart performed
blegh
the stage was really pretty
he can't sing and he didn't write the song and he is too old to dance
on a good note, he's much better at this genre than anything else he did
but he's good in the same way that ace was good: poop that doesn't stick as much

next week's artist: andrea bocelli?
who's next, yanni??

AHH the anticipation
ace, paris, daughtry in bottom 3
good good and good

ACE IS OUT
ACE IS OUT
RING THE BELLS ACE IS OUT FOR GOOOOODD =D

dun dun dunun dunnn dunun dunnnnnnnn
(that's stars and stripes forever music playing)

they play that "had a bad day" song every week for those exit montages

now, gotta get rid of paris and elliott yamin

rod stewart idol
Rod Stewart
wuda pose-dawg
o well, i can't really *skip* idol now that i can be home to watch them

wtf rod stewpid didn't write these songs they're all singing, he didn't even make them famous! (what a wonderful world, it had to be you, someone to watch over me)
this isn't jazz standards night! i'm pretty sure that at some point stevie wonder sang a song that he didn't write at some point in his life. i wonder if all those songs are on the list of choices too.

chris daughtry - not a fan of the solemn poser act. not just that, he also sang most of the song straight and dry; not much "make the song my own" happening. a 10 for being like rod stewart, a 6 for true-blue talent, and a 3.5 for likeability

paris bennett - she is no bella-croonette. leave ella fitzgerald alone. the judges are horribly off-cue tonight, they've had nothing but good things to say so far. 2 strikes...

taylor hicks - aw man i wish i had seen the SNL parody they were talking about. i hope hicky boy doesn't lose his energy after idol like other idols. they boy is great to watch perform. love the guy

elliott yamin - i saw a japanese dude in the subway that sings like elliott. sans "ba a a a a"
he kinda bored me this week. he was taking what rod stewart said to heart and now he's just as boring. randy and paula were his #1 and 2 fans, while simon actually agreed with me this time in saying yamin lacked personality.

kelly pickler - she's still cute in a naive kinda way. i really enjoyed her singing tonight. really. a little pitchy at times, and didn't hold notes out to their full value, but she reminded me of any disney movie pre 94'. randy is popping the crazy pills tonight. he didn't like it. but she'll survive tonight coz those bumpkins are loyal as the fedayeen

ace young - what a joy boy. he dressed up in a suit and tie and pulled his hair back! what's wrong with him?? its like he put on cowboy boots and is getting ready for a 2-pronged attack. and he wasn't on pitch for more than .5 seconds at a time
this was probably his best performance ever. please, PLEASE america don't bring him back next week

katherine mcphee - she sounded like barbara streisan tonight. not a good thing >=(
but she was still technically good. she took lessons from rod too. that guy should keep his grubby advice to himself and stop sullying these kids' talent. she's gorgeous in a womany way with that necklace and hair

once again, i hope ace gets the boot. i'll settle for elliott yamin though.
but noone, absolutely NOONE else
elliott and ace gotta git, then and only then will we be deciding who is the greatest.

no, i don't work for the INS
i saw a homeless guy with a cardboard sign that said "we're all immigrants" and it made me angry. how dare he try to make spare change by riding a current political gimmick. but its just what homeless people do i guess (remembering "happy superbowl!"). ya ok the pilgrims were immigrants and set up a colony without permission, but i seem to recall them welcoming us by teaching us how to fish and crap anyway. its not like they had a clear idea about property ownership either. and what was ellis island all about? was that the county fair? no. it was a place where millions of immigrants got processed. my point is, yes we're all immigrants, but we're all immigrants with papers. and congress is trying to account for all our immigrants. what is the big hubub about that? if you want to have a better life in the land of opportunity then stand up and be counted! i mean, i want a better life too but i can't just throw all my furniture in the 4 seasons and call it home. immigration is great, but illegal immigration sux

good enough to blog about
i've found la belle ville!
yes, i want to move in the vicinity of 60th and 1st.
what a cozy new england-esque area; right around the underpass of the queensboro bridge.
everything is right next to each other and well organized and stylistic. also, no wide sidewalks
that, btw, is a good thing
just being in the area makes me happy for some reason. its got oldworld charm. not depression-era oldworld. more like european oldworld.
i will be looking to move in that area when my lease expires, keeping my eyes open from now on to see if anything becomes available and affordable.

bucky bucked
i neva been a huge fan of the first moments in idol elimination nights when they do those music montages. they're never, EVER good. one exception: taylor hicks
he's the only one that take the reins and rocks out. and those family messages? pickler's grandpa is the most touching. everybody else's parents live in nice houses and dress nice and everythings nice. pickler's grandpa is out on a swing being all proud. awww touching!

so they're doing music of rod stewart next week. BLECCHCKH!!!
rod stewart is a poser and his music sux. next week will suck.. ..sadness =(

ace, bucky, and elliott yamin
the bottom 3

good voting, america! these are the 3 people that need ta git, in that order.

ace shoulda gone home first, but bucky got the axe
either way, they both needed to git and i get ace has more pre-teen girl fans

Queen idol
motha f-in Queen! ...soo looking forward to this episode of idol. i been rockin out queen on guitar hero for the past week! I hope it rocks. probably not (nobody can fill FM's shoes) but i hope it does. I’m suprised queen agreed to do this!?

Bucky covington - still trailer trash. but at least he made it his own and pulled it off kinda. even if its not my favorite style of singing.

Ace young – goodbye twinkle toes! He sealed his demise tonight. Hahaaaa! Horrible performance. Noone thinks he rocks. gawd i wish he got bounced before tonight. melissa mcghee shoulda been his replacement. she woulda rocked this week.

Kelly pickler – she shouldn’ta tried to do bohemian rhapsody. That song is bigger than she ever will be. She did a nice joan jett hairdo (cept blonde).

Chris daughtry - goat boy. baa baaa. he should stop taking singing lessons from elliott yamin. what's worse, he brought back the "look at how intense i am dramadrama" stare. =(
but, at least he rocked more than anyone else =/

Katherine mcphee - nice song choice! especially for her. she is so desirable on stage! even though she was out of pitch half the time tonight. i kinda wish she woulda embelished a bit more. that would be more superstar.

Elliott yamin - he didn't rock out the song but he showed he has a nice voice. and the good thing is that i hardly noticed the goatboy.

Taylor hicks - its a good song change. he dancing was awkward but i found myself thinking he pulled it off. i'm glad he's back to his old self after that country detour last week. the most entertaining one of the night. simon said its ridiculous, and it is, but he said it with a smile wider than after shureeka sat in it. he dug it like i did =D

Paris bennett - wow. wow because she was 10xs better than she's ever been. she's always had a nice voice, but she ditched the popping puppy persona. i was able to take her more seriously. way to go, paris. (its about time)

Simon is spot-on tonight. every word he said i was in agreeance with. from hating music to liking how people look.

I look forward to your Idol commentary. Dead on and funny. drama-drama stare....good one. I HATE the Bucky bit of tossing the mic from hand to hand. That's all I ever see when he's on stage....counting the tosses. Elliot missed the kick to knock down the mic stand....really awkward. My choice to go this week....ACE.

idol mistake
poor mandisa. we've failed her! she should NOT have gotten the axe. that yamin guy should, not mandisa. bucky should. ace should. paris should. mandisa should not. boooooooo! when katherine mcphee was put in the same group as ace and bucky i thought "o no, kathy's in the bottom 3!" but nooooo! those 2 jokers are flying high. i feel duped. its my fault, and people like me. i didn't vote.

I agree. It was a poor song choice. She chose a Shania Twain song and it was lifeless. Not comfortable with country.

What happened to your post about centaurs? I tried to make a comment, but couldn't. Now it's GONE.

I miss one week of idol and all #$*@ breaks loose. I found out from the radio this morning that Mandisa, Paris, and Elliot were the bottom 3.....NO FREAKIN' WAY! I know the genre was country, but Bucky and Ace shouldn't even be in the final 12. I think you need to bring back your "family being held hostage" theory or something 'cause that's just a cryin' shame (country style).

yeehawww country idol
as we go into this week of american idol i am expecting kelly pickler to shine like new chrome and mandisa to fall like the stock market in 1929. (teehee i typed "weed" before i corrected it back to "week". what the heck? the D button isn't anywhere near the K button). mr. covington is also kinda country, but he's the junkyard part. she still needs to git! i was never a big fan of kenny rogers. he has a nice restaurant though, and i guess that's about as good as i like him.

taylor hicks - he's not doing so good these days. his song choice sucked and its hard to tell anymore if he's as fun as he was before =(

mandisa - yup, as a country singer she sucks. i don't think that this will phase her though because we already know she's awesome.

i like the awkward jabs that seacrest and simon throw at each other. its somehow entertaining

elliott yamin - i'm sorry. again and again i can only hear "goatboy". i don't think i could stand listening to a cd, let alone a single, with him singing. i just can't get past his goaty vibrato. yuck

paris bennett - i think kenny rogers gives the wrong advice. paris sucked. i always thought she was annoying before, but at least i recognized her talent. but tonight that was all gone. kenny, what are you doing to these contestants??

ace young - he sucks. he has never kept a steady pitch ever. but he did better in this category than he's ever done before. it was his best, but it still sucked. ace young sucks and, on a side note, should wear a bonnett. blegh!

kelly pickler - i'm glad for her accent. she made the country song believable. and she was-a-lookin good too =) i've always liked her personality and i still love the way she says "sorry" after simon citicizes her.

chris daughtry - wow. he actually did really good tonight. i was never a fan before (and i'm still not) but he turned my head to take a closer look. give him a closer listen. the boy did well and i'm glad he turned off his i'm-so-intense-dramadramadrama expression.

katherine mcphee - i like her singing and stage personality. i'm not sure what kinda person she'd be like hanging out in a living room. probably not good. but when she's on stage singing i somehow think she's really attractive. nice singing, nice look, and just some kinda way about her.

bucky covington - ya, he fit in with this category tonight. not a complete suprise. but, again, he represents what i don't really like about country. his singing was actually not bad, but his image sucks. i think its his face. haha

so who should go home tomorrow? who did the worst tonight, and more importantly, is worst overall of what's left? goodbye ace young

yay free day!
with my new-found free time i decided to go out and about. take pics. go grocery shopping. you know, stuff i don't usually get a chance to do. it was such a nice day i got some coffee from dunkin donuts and went in random grocery store #56. not completely alien, but they did have some odd items. like organic kids' cereal and chocolate fudge soda pop. i bet koala crisp tastes like bamboo. i might be adveturous enough to try chocolate soda at some point though. then when i got to central park there was a parade blocking 5th ave. and a whole buncha people sitting on the grassy knoll. i guess i wasn't the only one that thought it was a nice day for central park. the parade was a dandy suprise. you just never know what you're gonna come across in this town. good and bad. it just happened to be good today and a good thing i wasn't in a rush anywhere. it was, as i found out, a greek parade. somehow religious too, i think. here's a video vignette. its much more entertaining in fast forward, but that weird judge-looking guy was too funny to speed up. i felt kinda bad for the guys that had to wear dresses and tights. and they're not even kilts! they're full-blown poofy tutu dresses. now i know the true meaning of hella hella hope.

you say tomate i say tomato
so farmworker advocates gathered in chicago in front of the flagship mcdonald's for a demonstration against low wages. they complain that the workers make $50/day. specifically, the tomato farmers make $50/day to fill 125 buckets.
does anybody out there think this is unfair? i really want opinions here.
now i don't know the ins and outs of tomato-picking, i admit, but i'm assuming it isn't rocket-science. so minimum wage should be justified, right? 125 buckets filled and at the end of the day they get $50. if you do the math against an 8-hour work day that is about $6.25/hour. now the minimum wage of florida is $6.40, but if you make more than 125 buckets a day you get more, right? so if you want to make minimum wage you have to make 128 buckets/8-hour day.
so it seems to me, initially and without any solid knowledge of how tomato farmers get paid, that they should argue that they should be expected to ONLY make 125 buckets/day. so bottom line is that they should get an extra cent/bucket (.41) of tomatoes in an 8-hour work day/125 buckets. so i guess i support that bottom line, being as 125 is a nice round number and i like round numbers. i guess you could say i like nice and round when talking about bottoms?

I'm sure $50 doesn't go a long way to support a big family. BUT if you want a big family then plan ahead and get a job that pays more. I think $50 is pretty good for menial labor.

I do a h___ of a lot more than that a day and don't get any money!

yay!

well today i had my first day as a heavy melody guy with no other job to go to. yup, no overnight marriott tonight. what a fantastic idea!
and i don't have to work at marriott tomorrow either... now i gotta work on that tripped-out circadian rhythm!
and its just as well that today marked the first milestone in the neverwinter nights assets list. i'd say about half of all sounds so far are from moi, so that's good. there are about 500 sounds left that need to be made, but we only need to do half of them by the next milestone (about a month) and its between 4 guys this time. sooooooo ima see if i can git-up-out at some point soon. i'll bring it up to them on monday but of course if they feel weird about it that's like saying no coz i'm not in a position to be pushing anything.
