man i'm smart
|
my air conditioner has a thermostate that only goes as low as 66. so it won't turn on unless the temperature drops below 66. and that really sux coz i can't do a manual on, just "fan". so if its 65 outside, there is no a/c in my apartment so it gets really hot. like 80. but this morning i had an epiphany. i have a fan in my window that blows in cool air from the outside. it doesn't work very well coz its still hot in here. so this morning i pointed it at the a/c, effectively giving that darn thing a taste of its own medicine. it hasn't turned off for an hour now and its still going and my apt is getting cooler. in fact, it won't stop until its 66 in here. haHAAAA! take that you scum! |

Wow, what a great show! It all flowed so well until the end when Prince performed (Prince giving a little mini concert by himself had nothing to do with Idol).
I liked that some of the finalists got to sing with their Idols: Paris/Al Jareau, Taylor/Toni Braxton, etc... Most pairings were good matches and complimented each other.... then there was Elliot. When he sang with Mary J Blige, Elliot was completely drowned out, pushed the side, and forgotten (this is the problem with Elliot.... he can sing, but he can't perform).
Great show.... SOUL PATROL! I'm looking forward to hearing Taylor for many years to come: Singles, Soundtracks, etc....
-
I was rooting for him, so I'm happy. Catherine is a great singer, but Taylor's so full of music he's fairly bursting to express it. Penguin's right about the finale; it was the best show all season, and I loved it when they brought back some of the real losers from the auditions like wild Dave Hoover, so frenetic he scared off the presenter of his trophy and she left it on the stage.

Where DO you find these items? I really think the driveway guard is the 'best'. I laughed so hard I cried. I know you & Penguin would not have kept it on the drive, but hauled it off to create something entirely different.Looks like something stolen from a construction site to me.

I'm so glad someone is keeping his blog current. Maybe I'll get around to mine next month!

That kayak would barely hold a child 'professional'. Anyone of KauffmanBoy size would collapse that thing in half. Imagine sitting next to that flier when he starts hugging his huge lap pillow... and isn't he gonna be leaning on the seat in front of him? Many dog owners buy more crapsky for their precious 'children' than we do for our human kids -- marketing genius!

that 70s show
|
so that 70s show finally came to an end. they tied up all the loose ends and didn't have an incredible amount of time to put in comedy. i've always felt a close connection with the show and was happy that eric and donna got back together finally. that show was a shambles when he went to africa. clever ending, new years 1979. |

paula bawlin

that music video thing was lame that's all i have to say about that
i love taylor's hometown. they're so crawfish. marching band, people named bubba, "taylor hicks day"... birmingham
that boy good. loved it when he brought mcphee and yamin on stage wit'im like high-profile backup dancers. nothing but bonus points ++ for that
katherine's hometown isn't as cool. she's down the street. and her house is too big. kinda boring. and i think she handles stardom a little more boringly than taylor too. this little sketch of her makes me want taylor to win more.
she sings good. but for some reason this performance didn't have a lot of magic in it and i'm thinking it might have something to do with her video.
elliott yamin's homecoming was kinda blah. it was cool that he worked in a supermarket though. and watching his mom shake her head. but overall it was kinda like "well, here i yam" at least his personality played out more like he's just an all-around good guy. that was better to see than katherine's personality.
he had a good song. his voice lent itself well to it. too bad we won't see him next week.
i don't like clive davis. the more he talks about "units" being sold the more i think he's a greedy old white guy. he's "the man" that we're all taught to hate. and i like to follow instructions so i get loathesome when he talks about all the money he's making and crap.
these results are very very close i like that.
and i know who got what, as does everyone at this late point in the show
next week's show will be great.

final three!
|
last competition before the finale
i hope katherine and taylor go head-to-head and yamin gets the boot tomorrow
i'm glad daughtry is off, for the record!
ok, i get it. clive is great woopity doo! his advice sux. he'd only be good for giving advice on business
ROUND ONE elliott yamin - wow. great opening. his song is spot on! great choice, randy. i hope the other two ninnies can get better. simon told him to loosen up. i hope that doesn't mean more vibrato
katherine mcphee - she was sexy in that convo with clive. she's so pretty on stage. i think she kinda sorta fell flat on the artistic direction of the song. i'm not sure if she should be the idol anymore but she needs to beat out yamin to the finale
taylor hicks - i like his voice. its distinctive enough to recognize. i dont' like the song choice. its a little too, i dunno, boring? nice working in the dance with paula. i hope he does better later.
ROUND TWO elliott yamin - paula chose the song. not a good idea but we'll see. i think he's got too much of a "nice guy" look to succeed for some reason. he sang well. the song sucked but at least he ditched the goofy tie.
katherine mcphee - her dramatic stage presence i found obnoxious. didn't like it. too cute maybe?? i dunno. her singing was spectacular though. i liked the way she sang that song and i agree with simon on the song choice. i love her dad. he always cries and it makes me feel sentimental.
taylor hicks - he sings "you are so beautiful" well. that happens to be one of my most favorite songs anyway. nice nice ray charles stylistically. i recognize some of the tricks he did that ray ray did that really sweeten the deal. way to go hicky. he's funny to watch when simon said it was his best performance ever. likeable guy.
ROUND THREE elliott yamin - elliott showed us that he's no match for hicks in the ray charles category. bad bad choice of song. if he was a contender tonight, he isn't anymore. goodbye elliott. if katherine doesn't pick a worse song then she'll go on to the finale.
katherine mcphee - hubbity hubba nice sexy outfit. she's singing well and its a good style for her. i think i remember her singing in this style before and i liked her back then too. she will do well outside of this competition.
taylor hicks - high roller. he's about as jumpy as a contestant has ever been. that's his element and i dig it. at this point its pretty obvious that he'll be the idol and i'm very happy with that. |

I know Elliot can "Sing" the songs, but he can't "Sell" the song. He's got no expression or connection with the words he sings. No kick ass stare, no smokin' dance moves, nothin'.
McPhee is annoying, but SUPER HOT!!! She nailed Over the Rainbow... but one great song isn't gonna do it. She's got pipes, but she doesn't have a distinct voice and she tends to oversing/screetch.

Neverwinter Nights 2 Trailer
|
yes, its up and now you can watch the trailer. the official site has it, but for some reason it doesn't show up in the video section. warcry.com has it. i'll save you the trouble of going to the site: Neverwinter Nights 2 Trailer its almost 90mb, more than my first computer all together, so kinda a long download. This will be played at E3 at the Atari booth, Obsidian booth, and the Microsoft booth. i'm betting it'll create quite a buzz too because people will be drawn to watch it from hearing it *ding ding*
in related news, i'm doing "lute songs" for when the Bard character attacks somebody. I guess he plays a song and it somehow damages the creatures. so i think we're going to go out and buy a lute. i'm excited! |

elvis idol (uh hoh)
|
predictions: taylor hicks should be really good this week
katherine will probably not do so good
elliott will be ok
daughtry will be dramatic and try to make it his own
so.. lets see how it goes
prescilla presley looks like a dump with fake red hair. i can see why she liked MJ now she let herself go after the naked gun movies
ROUND ONE taylor hicks - hes a natural with this elvis thing. his suit looked cool too. he'll go right on through to the next round. i agree with simon, but i loved it that way
chris daughtry - i dont much like his accessorizing the sunglasses. and yep, he's all dramatic like he thinks he's in a japanese music video. he didnt do much vocally and i'm still sick of seeing him every week
elliott yamin - he chose a song he doesnt know the words to. probably not a wise thing. wrong song choice. he shoulda chosen an upbeat song that people know. even though he pulled it together at the end, he didn't win me over. and hopefully america agrees with me. but i still can't make up my mind who i don't like more between him and daughtry
katherine mcphee - love her jeans ;D she sounded country. i liked her performance and i like her moving around too ;D she has a nice voice and i think she could pull off a nice album after this is all over. and she's pretty ;D;D;D
ROUND TWO taylor hicks - once again, he followed the right formula. start with a rockin song and end with a softer one. he's proving with this song that he can fill up an album with good stuff all the way through. his album cover should be red and blue. judges keep telling him to forget the "silly" routine from the first part. however, i don't think i would like an album of just his round two stuff. he needs both personalities to be entertaining. i hope he doesn't take their critiques to heart.
chris daughtry - did NOT like his rendition of "satisfy me". its definitely missing the kick of an elvis rocker. he's proving to me that i want the camera to show me something else.
elliott yamin - if you're lookin for trouble, look somewhere else. he sang it. this song cannot but "sung" it has to be "lived". he was everything except believable. not good not good. still can't decide who i don't like better though...
katherine mcphee - pitch pitch pitch! d'oh! her grace and elegance was overshadowed by the wrong pitches. aww i hope people vote for her and not elliott or daughtry. we need to look past tonight's performances to the big picture. we want to see katherine!! not those other jokers (taylor not included in preceeding remark about jokers)
i'm gonna vote for taylor and katherine |

Time for Katherine to go home! She's awesome eye candy, but her voice annoys me (kinda like when Paris talked). Katherine likes to "showboat" with lots of runs, but she never really nails them and often goes over the top, pitchy, and screaches. It's this showoff "look at me" part of her personality that I just don't like.
Elliot and Daughtry nailed their songs, but Elliot doesn't look or dance the part.
Overall, Katherine is the weakest link..... GOODBYE!!
Next to go will be Elliot
Taylor and Chris will duke it out in the finals where Mr. Hicks will take the whole enchillada!!!!

gay swedish scientists and their gay studies
|
i guess gay people got a small yippie today from cnn.com they printed a story about how swedish scientists are trying to prove that homosexuality is a biological phenomenon rather than a choice. the study goes like this: they take male pheromones and female pheromones and wave them in front of straight men, straight women, and homo women. straight men and lesbos liked the female scent better while straight women liked both the same. not exactly definitive but its a start i guess. i just hope free-thinking left-wingers don't go bonkers like they usually do and protest, and spread news, and flood the internet with wacky one-sided flash animations about how gay people have no choice. thing is, this article doesn't say that its proven. it says that swedish scientists reported a STUDY in a medical journal. of course, it IS cnn.com and we already know they love to print half-truths and catchy headlines regardless of the real truth. they don't even mention ANYWHERE in the article about nature vs nurture or the possibility of it being learned behavior. like, if you hang around a certain crowd long enough, eventually you might think your clothes could use pepping up, or grunging up, or whatever. your tastes change. your attitude changes. gives meaning to the phrase "acquired taste". i remember hearing that women in the old days when they took baths in rivers used to have their periods together. just for hanging around each other all the time. hows that for learned biological behavior? i think this study is a nice try and maybe even a good first step and trying to understand homosexuality. what i don't think it is is proof of ANY kind. and shame on cnn.com for their continued brazen efforts to mislead their gullible uppity readers |

It's all a CNN conspiracy!!!
I tend to agree with there being a biological link... mainly because I don't believe any homosexual would choose the ridicule and tremendous social pressure that comes with their sexual orientation. Yes, there are bigtime "Flamers" out there who just don't care, but that's no different than any other bad ass looking for attention. I tend to think most gays are in the closet and are prisoners to their orientation.

Or like they do with Shamu, make him swim up into the air, make a big splash, then throw fish down his throat.

oldies and newbies idol
|
i got to watch this week of idol while playing age of empires III online with my bro while on skype
ROUND ONE elliott yamin - not feelin it, but he gets a little props for the broadway reference (remember i live in nyc). he brought back the goat chop. baaaaa and his tie looks DUMB. again!
paris bennett - her voice annoys me. she's a good singer alright, but no idol. and i'd rather see the other contestants next week.
chris daughtry - there he goes again. drama on the stage. its so cliche. look at me look at me!. that's what i think of when he gets on stage. he's a good singer, and he can kinda rock. i just wish he'd lay on the ground like he did for andre bocelli
now, commercials past, there's just taylor and mcphee left ...and they're the ones that i really look forward to!
katherine mcphee - she's such a looker! she's a great singer, but i didn't like the way she sang the song. it doesn't matter though coz she's so pretty! she'll do a lot better on the second song.
taylor hicks - he's got kinduv an elvis dance goin on. he's a bit more awkwar though. and its just fine with me =) see, he did what i wanted daughtry to do.. layed down on the stage!!
ROUND TWO
elliott yamin - did better on the second round
paris bennett - she stunk up the 2nd half
chris daughtry - he dramafied the 2nd half. that fire theme was so cheesy
katherine mcphee - i didn't quite like her song choice. but what the hell, she's fine as a mofo so i still like her =D
taylor hicks - nice! he's proven that he can sing in a sentimental tone. taylor yes yes. if this was the final competition, he'd win. |
