Underwear Ninja comes with Space Suit: guess i'll go eat worms

Underwear Ninja comes with Space Suit
to blog or not to blog, which is the path a true underwear ninja must take? whichever path it be, it will surely be a rough-hewn one. argyle, possibly.

guess i'll go eat worms
i'm level 44 and have a couple rare items now. i've got a small list of friends that i can ping when i need help and vice versa. i'm in a guild.
and i had my first taste of what it might be like being in a raid party. well, it was raid-ish.

a raid is when all these people get together at a decided time and storm the castle/dungeon/cave so that they can get ancient treasures and rare items. its typical for a raid to last hours.

i wasn't in an "actual" raid party, but everyone in my group (except me) was there only so they could kill the last boss of Uldaman, and loot his corpse for the magical item left behind. i was the only one that had a quest to kill him, so i wasn't there JUST for the loot.
my group fought valiantly all the way past waves of troggs and rock golem men. we died many times, resurrected, and fought on. (hey, its easter, resurrecting is the thing to do!) it took us about an hour and a half to make it through and kill the titan of uldaman.

and then i took the treasure.... and boyyyy o boy were they angry with me.

understandable since i just rendered their 1 1/2 hours of blood sweat and tears a complete waste of time. and i got a frigin sweeeeet magic ring to show for it. the ring i have is worth almost as much armor points as the rest of my gear. so i'm almost double defense now, plus other bonuses to character traits.

in WoW, when you loot an item like that, its rendered "soulbound", which means you can't give or sell it to another player. the only thing you can do is wear it, destroy it, or sell it to an NPC merchant (selling it back to the game) for lots of gold. if you loot something in a group, it will ask you if you want to "need" it or "greed" it. now if its an item that is inferior to what you have, ie: you're just going to sell it coz you don't need it, then you select "greed" and the computer does a dice roll for you to see who gets it.
if, however, it is an item you need to complete a quest, or if you can wear it AND its better than what you have, then you select "need". the "need" will trump "greed". and if 2 people select "need" then they will dice roll for it and so on.
so when this totally sweet item came off of the dead titan, i saw i COULD use it (being a mage, i have restrictions as to what i can equip) and it was farrrr superior to any ring i had.
so i selected "need"
everyone else selected "greed"

now my name is absolute mud. my guy, swuteimsayin, may be talked about by those people in my group as being a "ninja" (shifty/shadey. someone that steals your loot)
of course, anyone else in that group could also wear it, and it was far superior to anything they had too. i assumed everyone would select "need" like i did.
